Thiothrix epibionts on niphargids from Southern Dobrogea. Panels a & b: Scanning electron micrographs (SEM) of filamentous bacteria attached to hairs on the legs of two N. cf. stygius individuals. The filaments closely resemble Thiothrix bacteria previously identified on Niphargus species from the Frasassi caves in Italy (Bauermeister et al. 2012).
