Instrumental fractionation factors determined from GSD-1G analyses during two 16 h periods of our runs. Fractionation factors are expressed as the measured abundance ratios in the GSD-1G reference glass divided by their published abundance ratios.48,49 Isotopic fractionations (upper panels) are close to unity, and exhibit slight variations. Elemental fractionations (lower panels) are more extreme (note the much greater vertical scale), and though sometimes they remain nearly constant (lower left panel), they sometimes exhibit ∼50% fluctuations (lower right panel). Error bars represent 1σ, and are often smaller than the plotted symbols.
