Despite their structural and mechanistic heterogeneity, atypical DAT ligands all exhibit a similar constellation of behavioral effects when compared to classical DAT inhibitors (e.g. cocaine and methylphenidate), including attenuated locomotor stimulant activity and reduced addictive liability.
