Alphavirus-mediated shutoff of host protein synthesis is delayed in differentiated AP-7 neurons. Mock-, SINV (MOI, 5)-, or VEEV (MOI, 50)-infected cAP-7 (upper) and dAP-7 (lower) neurons were radiolabeled for 1 h with 35S-labeled cysteine/methionine at the indicated times after infection. Protein synthesis (equal cpm per lane) was analyzed by SDS-PAGE autoradiography. Viral proteins are denoted to the right. Results of a representative experiment of three experiments are shown.
