The pink colour from vacuolar anthocyanin does not disappear at the time of cell death in the presence of the low pH solution. Notable is the momentary swelling of the nucleoli immediately before nuclear condensation. Tonoplast collapse and PM retraction from the cell wall occur simultaneously.
