The position on chromosome 21 (about 10.0 to 11.4 Mb from the centromeric end; Hattori et al. 2000) containing an increased number of rearrangements and/or an increased amount of sequence divergence is indicated (blue bar). The positions of intervals A (purple bar) and B (green bar), each of which are ∼4.5 Mb in length and contain human chromosome 21 sequences compared with orangutan, rhesus macaque, and woolly monkey DNA (see Methods), are shown.
