Pep perception leads to an early induction of genes required for chlorophyll degradation and autophagy. Leaf discs were treated with 100 nM AtPep1 or without any peptide and incubated in darkness for 24 h prior to harvest. Transcript levels were determined by normalizing to UBQ10 and calculating the mean of five independent biological replicates. Bars indicate the fold change of transcript levels related to an untreated 0 h control sample.
