TABLE 1.

Simulation run results of the probe triangle detection algorithm. Out of 20,000 runs, a total of 98.11% of runs resulted in the correct triangle location identification. When the number of passes through the list of 36 possible triangles is limited to 5, 98.07% (19621/20000) runs resulted in the correct solution. The simulation was run with very liberal values of random point generation in space, random normal noise addition (μ = 0 mm, σ = 1 mm), random combined multiaxis rotations within ±25° and multiaxis translations within ±25 mm.
