Anion superoxide generation measured by chemiluminescence in human esophageal biopsies with different grades of damage and in normal esophageal and duodenal epithelium. Chemiluminescence was significantly higher in patients with erosive esophagitis (grade II-IV) and Barrett’s esophagus compared to control patients.
