Lactase activity and subject age. Disaccharidase activities were assayed in biopsy specimens from 80 patients and compared to age obtained from the study questionnaire at the time of endoscopy. No age-dependent differences in lactase activity were detected (P=0.76, see Supplemental Figure 1a).
