The ee values were measured using chiral HPLC analysis of methyl esters after derivatization with Me₃SiCHN₂; all results are corrected to bases with the R configuration.

Addition at −90 °C.

26 mmol scale, 5.97 g of 3; (R)-¹TA was recovered in 99% yield.
