Lack of PTX3 reduces striatal vascular density during the recovery phase after middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAo). PECAM-1 staining in the striatum of wild-type (WT) and PTX3 knockout (KO) mice was quantified, showing that PTX3 KO mice have significantly less vasculature 14 days after MCAo (C).
