(a) The mean absolute difference (MAD) values between the ground truth (digital phantom 20% phase) and AAIR reconstructions using different intensity thresholds in the anatomy segmentation process (for the bony anatomy and the pulmonary details) plotted w.r.t. iteration number. The curves only illustrate the gradual reduction in the discrepancies between the ground truth and the reconstructed images rather than demonstrating the reconstruction convergence. The result of the ASD-POCS reconstruction is included as a reference. (b)–(e) are the corresponding AAIR reconstructed images, with the intensity thresholds used in each case labeled.
