Mice are kept in metabolic cages to record food intake (A), body weight (B), water intake (C), urine volume (D), plasma [K⁺] (E), plasma [Na⁺] (F), urinary K⁺ excretion (G), urinary Na⁺ excretion (H), 24-hour urine [K⁺]/[creatinine] (I), and 24-hour urine [Na⁺]/[creatinine] (J) ratios. Changes in food intake and body weight are recorded over the entire 48-hour feeding period and are expressed as the difference (Δ) in the food and body weight of the mice in the last 48 hours before the experiment.
