In 2010, 70.8% of whites and 81.9% of African Americans were ingesting >10% calories as added sugars, and 9.1% and 16.9% were ingesting >25% of calories as added sugars, respectively.23 The World Health Organization recommends <10% intake,153 and the American Heart Association recommends 5% for women and 7.5% for men.162
