IFN responsiveness is enhanced at 37 °C compared with 33 °C. (A–F) LA-4 respiratory epithelial cells were exposed to medium containing 0, 10, or 50 U/mL recombinant mouse IFN-β and incubated at 33 °C or 37 °C for 6 h, at which time cells were collected for RNA isolation. Expression levels of ISGs were determined with RT-qPCR. Expression levels of each mRNA are plotted as the fold change from the expression level in mock-treated cells incubated at 33 °C for 6 h. The mean and SD for two or three replicates per condition are shown. Asterisks indicate a significant difference (P < 0.05) in expression level at 33 °C vs. 37 °C as determined by an unpaired t test.
