Differentiation of bacterial communities from low-risk versus high-risk patients. NGS sequencing results for pulmonary aspirates were classified with PathoScope using long reads. For each patient (x axis), the percentage of the reads assigned to each bacterial genus is plotted on the y axis. The patients are grouped by their CPIS, a clinical index of the severity of the pulmonary distress, often used to predict the risk of bacterial infection in intensive care patients.
