These ORFs are annotated as probable pseudogenes by Nakayama et al. (2008).
Ank18 carries no ankyrin repeats, but exhibits homology to the non-ankyrin repeat portion of its homolog in the O. tsutsugamushi Boryong strain, Ank1u7 (OTBS_1195; Cho et al., 2007).
