In the spring of 6^th grade (wave 2), youth high in alcohol use are more likely to remain in gender homogeneous groups than are non-alcohol users (top); highly delinquent youth, on the other hand, are more likely to be members of mixed-sex groups than are non-delinquent youth (bottom). In both cases, the significant interaction of wave by problem behavior indicates that differences dissipate by spring of 9^th grade (wave 5).
