The graph showed significant up-regulation of AQP4 and GFAP expression in the SCI group at 12, 24, 48 and 72 hours after SCI. Treatment of melatonin (100 mg/kg) could markedly decrease AQP4 and GFAP levels in the spinal cord at 24, 48 and 72 hours after injury. *P < 0.05, vs. sham surgery (sham) group; #P < 0.05, vs. SCI group.
