Third instar larval NMJ preparations from Clap4C; lap¹/lap^sd3 were incubated with or without FlAsH-EDT₂ followed by exposure to 488-nm light for 5 min to inactivate LAP. The membrane resting and EJP were recorded just prior to and immediately following LAP inactivation. The NMJ preparation was bathed in HL-3 saline containing 2 mm CaCl₂. Note that 488-nm light exposure slightly but significantly depolarized the resting potential of muscles without significantly reducing EJP amplitude.
