Serotonin immunoreactive neuron cell bodies were counted in the caudal cluster of the raphe nuclei: nucleus raphe obscurus (NRO), nucleus raphe pallidus (NRP), nucleus raphe magnus (NRM), and caudal and rostral ventrolateral medulla (NVLM).
