(A) Schematic representation of the DSS-induced colitis model. Mice lacking intestinal epithelial Stat3 (Stat3ΔIEC) and littermate controls were given 4% DSS for 7 days followed by consumption of water alone for 7 or 21 days. (B) Colon histologic injury was determined as shown. (C) Survival and (D) weight loss were determined and are shown (n>21 mice per genotype). (E) Colon length was measured as shown with (F) representative images of the gross appearance. Data are shown as mean ± SEM.
