Resistance of planktonic and sessile cells of Candida species to antifungals. Cultures in stationary phase of the four Candida species were diluted to an OD_600 nm 0.1 with sterile deionized water. Aliquots of dilutions were incubated at 37°C in the presence of the indicated concentrations of antifungals. After 90 min, water was removed by low-speed centrifugation and the corresponding cell pellets were resuspended in sterile deionized water to an OD_600 nm 0.1. Samples of these suspensions were exponentially diluted in 96-well plates and each dilution was spotted onto Mueller-Hinton agar plates that were incubated at 37°C. Growth was inspected after 48 h.
