Effects of H2S donor and glutathione on proinflammatory cytokine expression in tubular cells. Human proximal tubular cells were subjected to hypoxia 2 h followed by 48‐h reoxygenation in the absence (HR) or presence of NaHS (10 μmol/L) or glutathione (GSH 0.01 mmol/L). Cells cultured in a regular medium without being subjected to HR were used as a control. The mRNA levels of MCP‐1 (A) and IL‐6 (B) were measured by a real‐time PCR analysis. Results are expressed as mean ± SEM (n = 5 for each group). *P < 0.05 when compared with the value obtained from control cells. #P < 0.05 when compared with the value obtained from cells subjected to hypoxia–reoxygenation.
