HO-1 does not affect hematological homeostasis. Bone marrow of WT (HO-1+/+), HO-1+/− and HO-1−/− mice was isolated and evaluated for number of CFU-GM (i), BFU-E (ii) and CFU-MEG (iii) in clonogenic in vitro assays. Peripheral blood parameters were evaluated by Hemavet and indicated no differences in number of white blood cells (WBC), neutrophils (NE), lymphocytes (LY), monocytes (MO) and red blood cells (RBC) (iv). HO-1 deficiency had no effect on hemoglobin (HB) content and hematocrit (HCT) (v). Data represent at average of at least eight mice per experimental group
