Saligenin assay carried out on SD-3.12 ΔascB (Esc⁻), SD-3.12 δascB Esc⁺, and SD-3.12 δascB Sal⁺ strains and SD-3.12 ΔascB transformants carrying pACDH (vector control), pACDH-bglA^WT, pACDH-bglA^Sal+, and pACDH-bglA^T583G. Strains MM1 (bgl wild type) and AE328 (Bgl⁺) carrying an activated bgl operon served as the reference strains. Cells were grown in M9 minimal succinate medium in the presence and absence of inducer (7 mM salicin). Error bars represent the standard deviations obtained from a minimum of three independent biological replicates.
