Model: electron transfer to the cbb3-HCO in Shewanella oneidensis. The cytochrome bc1 complex may transfer electrons to the cbb3-HCO directly or more likely via an undetermined cytochrome c as the major mediator and ScyA as the minor, allowing oxygen reduction. Contribution from CymA as the electron source is extremely limited. According to the Nadi reaction (α-naphthol + DMPD + O2 → Indophenol Blue + H2O), oxygen is required for both oxygen respiration and the Nadi reaction.
