To visualize the four-dimensional trajectories, trajectories were projected separately along the dimensions defined by the two slower firing rate modes J1 and J2 (top), and the two faster firing rate modes J3 and J4 (bottom). J1* through J4* specify a rotated and reflected set of joint firing rate modes that align with the post-saccadic trajectory. (b) Root-sum-square (rss) amplitudes of firing rate projections along modes J1* through J4*. Dashes indicate rss amplitudes of projected activity at high (black) and low (gray) eye positions (high and low positions are the same as in Figure 3c).
