Nucleotides that fall on the conventional SHAPE reactivity scale (normalized nucleotide reactivity <2) are black, nucleotides “hyper-reactive” towards SHAPE reagents are purple. (B) Section of data from part (A) showing two hyper-reactive nucleotides. One (nucleotide 412) has poor experimental electron density and is likely dynamic in the crystal, whereas the other (nucleotide 422) has well-defined density. Electron density is drawn at 1σ.
