Puerarin and 5-FU either in combination or alone induce apoptosis in BGC-823 cells. (A) Detection of apoptotic morphological changes by Hoechst 33258 staining. Following exposure to puerarin (1,600 μM), 5-FU (80 μM) or puerarin+5-FU for 48 h, BGC-823 cells were incubated with 20 μM Hoechst 33258 for 10 min at room temperature. Then apoptotic features were assessed by observing chromatin condensation and fragment staining.
