FIGURE 1. — Effects of miRNA. Sequences coding for RNA and miRNA through a series of processing steps lead to formation of mRNA and functional miRNA, respectively. The miRNA complex (RISC) so formed can bind mRNA leading either to reduced rate in translation or stoichiometric/nonstoichiometric degradation of complex. Figure shows only nonstoichiometric degradation leading to recycling of miRNA.
