Abstract

Hybridization studies with a [3H]DNA probe from an endogenous baboon type C virus were used to detect nucleic acid sequences of type C virus in primate cellular DNA. Sequences related to those of the baboon type C virus are found in all other Old World monkey species, higher apes, and man.
