Schematic representation of the inflammasome activation model. Model depicting the regulation of inflammasome activation. Foreign factors, such as DAMP and PAMP, stimulate NLRs, ASC and pro-caspase-1, followed by formation of the inflammasome complex. Subsequently, pro-caspase-1 is cleaved into caspase-1 via activation of the inflammasome complex. Pro-IL-1β is cleaved into mature IL-1β and secreted to the macrophage extracellular matrix.
