Scale Score Meaning
HRSD-17 0 Absent
  1 Feels life is not worth living
  2 Wishes he/she were dead, or any thought of possible death to self
  3 Suicide ideas or half-hearted attempt
  4 Attempts suicide
MADRS 0–1 Enjoys life or take it as it comes
  2–3 Weary of life. Only fleeting suicidal thoughts
  4–5 Probably better off dead. Suicidal thoughts are common, and suicide is considered as a possible solution, but without specific plans or intentions
  6 Explicit plans for suicide when there is an opportunity. Active preparation of suicide
BDI 0 Absent
  1 Thought of killing myself
  2 I would like to kill myself
  3 I would like to kill myself if I had a chance
