Two milliliters of CMC-Na solution containing NiCl2 (30 or 300 μM) in the presence or absence of LPS (10 ng/ml) was injected into the air pouch, and the pouch fluid was then collected 8 h after the stimulation. The pouch fluid weight (A) and number of leukocytes in the pouch fluid (B) were measured and the concentrations of IL-6 (C), TNF-α (D), MCP-1 (E), and IL-1β (F) were determined by ELISA. Data represent the mean ± S.E.M. (n = 6, 7). *p < 0.05 and **p < 0.01 between the indicated groups.
