Different (a) MSR and (b) MSRR structures and their equivalent circuit model (following the discussion in Ref. 17). For MSRs equivalent capacitance first (at small number of turns) increases and then (at large number of turns) decreases when the number of turns is increased, whereas for MSRRs the equivalent capacitance always increases. Here C0 is the total capacitance between two adjacent rings, which is assumed to be the same for all the depicted structures.
