Time course of (A) virus-inactivation and (B) water-evaporation of the clothing. (A) A virus preparation was inoculated on the various cloths, which were subsequently transferred to a test tube and incubated for 0, 5, 10, 15 and 20 min after the inoculation. Following extraction and determination of virus infectivity, the relative residual infectivity was calculated by dividing the infectivity at each time point by that at time 0. (B) A virus-free medium was inoculated onto the test cloths and the weight of the inoculated cloths was measured prior to inoculation and at 0, 10, 15 and 20 min after inoculation.
