EC, endothelial cells, GFP, green fluorescent protein; HE, haemogenic endothelium; sp, somite pair.

Haemogenic and endothelial tubule forming potential of individual 23GFP+ HE cells, as determined by clonal OP9 cocultures. Data are the total of 2-5 independent experiments performed on pooled tissues of E8.5 PAS + YS (4-10 sp), E9.25-9.5 PAS + VU (17-27 sp), E10.5 AGM + VU (32-37 sp), apart from E10.5 23GFP cultures (1 experiment). Similar to the bulk cultures, 23GFP EC were unable to generate haematopoietic progeny.
