Host protection from S. pneumoniae -produced H ₂ O ₂ by catalase-positive mycoplasmas. Survival of C. elegans (A) and amount of H₂O₂ remaining (B) at 24 h upon incubation with S. pneumoniae at OD₆₂₀ = 0.05 in the presence of 500 μM sucrose. Experiments were performed in triplicate.
