A schematic representation of the long-term propagation of unc-46 mdf-1 such-4; dog-1 homozygotes for 470 generations. We isolated a suppressor (such-4) in F₄ from the only plate that we set up that propagated in the absence of MDF-1 and DOG-1 for longer than three generations. We generated a strain (KR4233) by crossing away dog-1(gk10). A second line was propagated for the total of 470 generations. The worms were frozen at generations 170 (green), 270 (purple) and 470 (blue). Note that unc-46 (used as a visible marker) is tightly linked to mdf-1(gk2) in all of our strains.
