The numbers and the position of the PNC in relation to the nucleolus are heritable to daughter cells during cell division as shown by immunostaining. Labeling of PTB in two newly divided daughter cells marks the PNCs (bright spots at the nucleolar periphery) and nucleoplasm. Fibrillarin marks the nucleoli and DAPI marks the nucleoplasm.
