FIG. 1.

Combination of Rosuvastatin (Rosu) and Bexarotene (Bex) at suboptimal concentrations reduces angiotensin II (Ang-II)-induced human umbilical artery endothelial cell (HUAEC) mononuclear cell adhesion under physiological flow. HUAECs were stimulated with Ang-II (1 μM) for 4 h. In some experiments, cells were pretreated with Rosu (10–30 nM) (A), Bex (0.3–1 μM) (B), or combinations of both (C), 20 h before Ang-II stimulation. Freshly isolated human mononuclear cells (106 cells/ml) were perfused across the endothelial monolayers for 5 min at 0.5 dyn/cm2, and leukocyte adhesion was quantified. Results are the mean±SEM of n=5 independent experiments; **p<0.01 relative to the vehicle group,++p<0.01 relative to the Ang-II-stimulated cells.
