Enzymatic reaction conditions: 1 mM Pik hexaketide, 8 mM 2-vinylpyridine, 1 mM sodium metabisulfite and 25 mM ascorbic acid with NBOM photolysis, 0.25 mol % PikAIV (2.5 μM) (∗) or 1 mol % PikAIV (10 μM) (∗∗) or 1 % TE (10 μM), 4 h, rt. Conversion to 2 (R₃ = H) or 9 (R₃ = Me) was monitored (HPLC) with data represented as the mean ± standard deviation where n = 3.
