Novelty-induced IEG expression in the brains of Shp2 cKO mice. Shp2flox/flox (control [Ctrl]) or Shp2 cKO mice at 14 to 20 weeks of age were exposed to a novel environment for 0, 1, or 4 h, immediately after which the cerebral cortex, hippocampus, and striatum were dissected for isolation of total RNA. The expression of the IEGs indicated was then determined by quantitative PCR analysis. The amount of each mRNA was normalized to that of glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase mRNA and is presented relative to the mean value of control mice at 4 h.
