Figure 4. — (A) Heart rate at rest was similar between the two groups. Dobutamine caused similar (about 40%) increase in the heart rate in both groups. (B) Intrinsic PCr relaxation rate constant (R₁) was indistinguishable between the groups at rest and stress. (C) Forward CK reaction rate constant (k_f) was significantly higher at rest in diabetic rat heart as determined by unpaired t‐test. Number of animals in each group are given in Table 1. Increase in cardiac work resulted in similar increases in k_f (~0.12 s⁻¹) in both groups.
