A DC generator is connected in parallel to the recording and reference terminals of the amplifier headstage and is isolated from the recording electrode by a reed switch placed inside a cylindrical electromagnet. When the electromagnet is engaged the circuit is closed, allowing delivery of electroporation voltages.
