Samples included AAAAA (a and b), desmosine with alanine (c and d), and isodesmosine residues with alanine (e and f) (alanine Ramachandran angles are shown). The angles were calculated using the final 1 ns of the 20 ns simulations (images are shown in color). Note that for AAAAA in glucose, there is a change or increase from β-spiral to α-helical, consistent with the experimental NMR results.
