MMSE = Mini-Mental State Examination (Folstein, Folstein, & McHugh, 1975), where scores range from 0 to 30, with greater scores indicating better cognitive performance; NEECHAM = NEECHAM Confusion Scale (Neelon & Champagne, 1992), where a cut-of score less than 24 is considered positive for delirium; mCAM = modified Confusion Assessment Method (Lewis, Miller, Morley, Nork, & Lassater, 1995), where scores of 3 and 4 indicate presence of delirium and scores of 0, 1, and 2 indicate absence of delirium
