A positive interaction between two proteins (i.e., one that leads to the reconstitution of the yellow fluorophore) is denoted by +. A negative result (−) may indicate that either the two proteins do not have intimate interaction or the BiFC assay is not sensitive enough to detect their weak/transient interaction.
